May Meeting Announcement

Last month’s presentation from Arthur Waddington on the Sea Wolf salvage operation and the very suspect facts surrounding it was very interesting and had everyone’s attention.

Our next meeting will be Thursday, May 20th. We are excited to be returning to Bay Delta Maritime, Pier 15, San Francisco where we will be going out on one of their new Tractor Tug’s, either the Delta Catherine or Delta Billie. You will want to arrive at 5:00 p.m. as the Tug will be leaving promptly at 5:30 p.m. for a cruise on the bay. We had a really good time the last time we went out with our hosts and you will not want to miss this opportunity.

Dinner will be catered by C.B. Hannegans. We are in for a treat as the menu is Marinated Tri-Tips with Mushroom Sauce, Chicken Thighs and Legs in Barbeque Sauce, Anti-Pasta with Sausage, Tossed Green Salad and Parmesan Garlic Bread. The meat will be cooked right there on the pier and it’s ALL YOU CAN EAT! The beer and wine will be hosted for the social hour also. You won’t want to miss this event. Call Gonzalo at DelGavio 510-523-3100 or e-mail him at Gonz58@aol.com no later than MONDAY, May 17th, 2010, with your reservations.   Remember to keep our costs of the dinners down we need an accurate count of people so please don’t overlook this especially if you are bringing guests.  The cost is still $35.00 per person and we need correct reservations.  Don’t forget, if you bring in a new dues paying member, you get a complimentary dinner.

Board of Governor’s Meeting to start a 4:30 pm.  Social Hour will start when we come back from the cruise.  We look forward to seeing you there.

The Annual Don Kummer Classic Golf Tournament is rapidly approaching. There are still some openings for foursomes and single golfers as well as hole sponsors. Remember all proceeds goes to CMA for their scholarship and academics funds. It’s not too late to join in the fun!  For a copy of the registration flyer click here. We recently were able to give CMA President Bill Eisenhardt a check for $5000.00 from last year’s tournament proceeds. Let’s keep it up in 2010!

The Society of Port Engineers scheduled meetings and programs for 2010:

o   June 7th ~ Annual Don Kummer Golf Classic.

o   September 16th ~ Jeremiah O’Brien, presentation by MAN Diesel

A great way to help the Society is to encourage your company to become a corporate sponsor.  For the meager sum of $250.00 per year you get mentioned at every meeting and can link your website to the Society’s web site.  Contact Dave Rubino at  834-2323 for details.

The Society is encouraging everyone to receive the SFPE monthly meeting notices and other news via email.  Please assist us with providing your current email address by forwarding it to:  sfpenews@yahoo.com.  Thank you.”
